International Bunkering at Uligan Anchorage

Indian Ocean bunkering hub at the northern tip of Maldives

 

State Trading Organization is the sole physical supplier permitted to carry out bunkering at Uligan. We operate two bunker barges which carry VLSFO and MGO.

 

 

Location Information

The pilot board ground is 07 deg 05.0'N / 072 deg 57.0'E 

Anchorage locations are marked in the downloadable map. The depth of anchorage area is 30m to 70m.

The area experiences two seasonal weathers: Northeast Monsoon from December to March and Southwest Monsoon May to July. Northeast Monsoon is associated with light breeze, no rain usually and wins on BF scale 3-4 from North to North East. Southwest Monsoon sees heavy rain and wind mostly from Southerly to South West, with winds of 4-6 on BF scale. November is an inter monsoon period.

In all situations, the ships hold good with 8 shackles well in water and for big ships 9 shackles and should there be a need vessel can keep engine on short notice.
